A galette is a thin pie without a pie pan.
Crust
1 3/4 cups of flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/3 cup of corn meal 1 stick of butter
1/2 cup of butter milk (I used powdered)
Mix dry ingredients together. Cut in butter. Add in water from powdered buttermilk or buttermilk. Mix until combined and refrigerate for 30 min.
Filling:
2 Granny Smith apples
1/2 cup of brown sugar
1/3 cup of flour
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
1/2 stick of butter
Peel and slice apples. I use my mandolin slicer. It makes it simple. Roll out dough into a large circle about 12 inches across.
Lay apples in the middle. Leave 2 inch edge. Fold over edge.
Mix dry ingredients and cut in butter. Sprinkle over galette. Bake at 350 for 20 min.
Slice and serve with ice cream and caramel.
